That Invisible Guard of Angels

Though the following paragraph is written to pastors, its faith-building truths can be applied by all believers.

We as pastors have been given a heavenly work to do. If we could see the palace of our King, the glorious temple in heaven, and the mighty spirits residing there, the towering skylines of our cities would seem like anthills, and the enterprises of men would be no more impressive than the games children play at recess. We would realize that “they that be with us are more than they that be with them,” indeed, that round about us are “horses and chariots of fire” (2 Kings 6:16–17). We would say with Richard Sibbes: “In Christ we have the attendance of angels…. We have Elisha’s guard about us continually, but we see them not…. A Christian is a king; he is never without his guard, that invisible guard of angels.
