RUSSIA: Seminar on the Family & “Pastor’s Home” Conference

[1]It was a very busy, but profitable few days in Moscow, Russia this past weekend. A room at the main headquarters of the Baptist Union was reserved for the parenting seminar, which lasted from 2-6 pm. As usual, the Russian brothers and sisters in the church were hungry for biblical teaching and had lots of practical parenting questions. Afterward we travelled to a church member’s home where we visited with several young families and enjoyed typical Russian refreshments of salads, cheeses, sausage, and fruit juices.
On Sunday we worshipped with the believers at the 2-year old Russian Bible Church[2], planted and co-pastored by Eugene Bakmutsky and Victor Zubarev. I preached from Deuteronomy 6:1-9 during the morning worship service and then finished up the parenting seminar[3] after a light lunch at the church.[4]
In the evening, we fellowshipped with five young couples while their young children played with each other. These were all leaders, counselors, and teachers in the church, so Karen and I spent time answering many ministry-related questions as well as sharing personal life stories, which was really fun as it helped us to get to know one another better. All expressed much appreciation for Karen coming along on this trip. The ladies loved talking with her and gave her many hugs when they said goodbye.
Thanks to all for praying. Please don’t stop!
