MUSINGS FROM WITHIN THE SECULAR PSYCHIATRIC COMMUNITY

The following articles represent the wide array of voices within the secular community. Far from being homogeneous in their beliefs about mental illness, the secular psychiatric community is still very much in the process of developing how they think about mental illness and its treatment. Understanding this helps us become more compassionate and discerning counselors in the confusing world in which we live.

Jonathan Holmes provides commentary on many of these articles, and more, as well as his own personal ‘takeaways’ here.

There is a growing number of books and articles on the subject of mental illness that deserve more attention. Therefore, I will continue to update this resource list as I am able.
