Sanctification Conference in Cleveland, Ohio
by Paul Tautges | April 5, 2016 2:54 pm
“I’m Doing What I Shouldn’t Do, HELP!” is the theme for the annual conference of the Biblical Counseling Institute of Ohio. Joe Propri, Director of BCI, writes:
If you have been a Christian for any length of time, I’m sure you have voiced words similar to the Apostle Paul – For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate … For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” (Rom 7:15-18 ESV)[1]
I’m like Paul. I don’t understand my own actions. Do you? Do those you counsel understand their own actions? Probably not. We need to understand. We need to know how to live out our salvation with fear and trembling, and also with victory! We all need help; we all need the one-another ministry of speaking the truth in love—to receive it and to give it.
This year’s conference will increase our ability to help. Phil Johnson, executive director of Grace to You, and a pastor at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA, will join BCI’s team to encourage us that we may encourage those we reach out to help.
